How do you remove an image on top of another image?
Someone has taken a picture with a camera and editied it so that a portion of the picture is covered with the image of a smiley face, how can i remove the smiley face to see the whole image?

Photo editing packages work with virtual layers of images, so another layer with a smiley face was placed on top of your picture.
But in the final save, the layers were probably combined to make a single layered image where the smiley-face portion has obliterated the pattern that was below it.
Unless you have the original layered project (e.g. Photoshop image file) the obscured portion of the image has been destroyed and you need access to the original
